Care Certification is available for churches who want to have volunteers who are equipped to meet with guests and members in your congregation.
The complete program encompasses 5 workshops to equip you with self awareness and ministry skills that will help you towards Christlikeness and to prepare you to serve others.
These courses can be completed in any order.
1. Understanding How God Wired us
When we discover why we do the things we do, we can improve our relationships, effectiveness and quality of life. And we can help others do the same.
The Understanding How God Wired us workshop will be offered in May/June 2016.
2. Understand How You See Others
This session is designed to help you have a better understanding of your own emotions and the emotions of others. It will use biblical examples to illustrate the importance of self and social awareness so you can relate to others in a healthy way.
The next Emotional Quotient workshop will be offered May/June 2016.
3. Sin Cycle and Using Scripture in Times of Need
This session is designed to help you have a better understanding of the cyclical nature of our own sin traps and addictions. Anything that keeps us from God (emotional eating, gossip, pornography, alcohol, overworking, etc.) has triggers and choices. The more you understand the more you can break the cycle in yourself and others! In addition, we will help you understand how to properly use scripture to help someone in their times of need.
4. Understanding The Importance of Boundaries
We are impacted by the people around us. However, we have choices in how we choose to engage them and how we let them engage us. This workshop will help you understand boundaries and then give some basic skills in helping people establish boundaries to keep the good stuff in and the bad stuff out of their relationships.
5. Coaching through Change
One of the main stumbling blocks for people is embracing the change that inevitably comes. As you are looking to move out of your own current situation or helping others process what is going on, the basics of coaching people through their own obstacles is essential. This in no way prepares you to be a professional coach, but rather gives guidance to being an effective volunteer care member.
